Insurance Website Redesign

What I learned:

-How to interpret what the client is wanting

-Creating a site that is better than the competition

-Revising a design based on user testing feedback.

Why it Needs Fixing

Typically one of my first steps in my design process is doing a heuristic mark-up of the current website or brand design to analyze what is my innitial thoughts on it or what needs changing.

Research on Competition

I asked the client for examples of what sites he likes and I also do some research to see what sites similar businesses are using.

This helps me see patterns, and see what parts of their websites work well/what parts I should avoid implementing in my designs.

Sketching and Wireframing

I went through the competitor’s sites and found what I wanted to integrate into our site.

I also talked with and interviewed with the target audience to hear more about what they are looking for in a website.

Testing and Redesigns

After I had a sense of a design, I really wanted more feedback. I found more people that fit into the target audience to get some feedback and test the design.

Back to the Drawing Board

After I conducted some user testing, and consulted with my client, I went back to sketching to fine tune the design to be exactly what I was wanting.

As you can see in the sketch, I decided to break down what each section of the landing page should focus on, which was an intro section, a why choose us section, what we help with section, who we have helped section, and when we can meet section.

This allowed the user to have the main information they are looking for to be placed intentionally and easy to navigate to.

Integrating Google Analytics

I connected the site with a Google Analytics account to allow the client and I to track the progress of the site.

It also can allow me to know what I need to change on the site in the future if they want a redesign. I will be able to look at the data and see which parts are confusing or which they would like more information on.

Final Product

What I learned:

-How to interpret what the client is wanting.

-Creating a site that is better than the competition.

-Revising a design based on user testing feedback.
